Auston Matthews was born on 17 September 1997 in San Diego, California. He plays the centre position in the NHL for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Matthews was selected first overall in the 2016 NHL Draft. He is known for his scoring skills and has been the top scorer multiple times. He was named to several NHL All-Star Games and won numerous awards, including the Calder Memorial Trophy. He had excellent shooting skills and puck control, and combined height and strength to excel in physical play.
